Fuel policy

The fuel policy sets out how the tank is handled. There are two main models, and the difference between them can cost you real money.

Full to full

You collect the car with a full tank and return it full. You pay only for what you use and refuel wherever you like. It is the most transparent model and the one worth looking for.

Full to empty (or pre-paid fuel)

You pay up front for a full tank, usually at a higher price per litre than the petrol station, plus a "service fee". You return the car however it ends up and unused fuel is not refunded. If you are only doing short trips, you are paying for petrol you never burn.

How we do it at Neptuno

We work full to full. We hand the vehicle over with a full tank and you bring it back the same; if it comes back short, you pay the fuel used plus a €25 refuelling fee. If you would rather not hunt for a petrol station, there is a quick-return option: pay for the fuel at pick-up at pump price, with no extra fee, and bring it back as it is.
