CDW (Collision Damage Waiver)

Basic damage cover: it caps your liability but leaves an excess for you to pay.

CDW (Collision Damage Waiver) is not strictly insurance but a waiver: the company waives its right to charge you the full cost of damage to the vehicle, apart from the excess.

It usually comes included by default in European rates, which is why many people assume they are fully covered. They are not: CDW nearly always carries an excess, and that is where the unexpected charges appear when the car goes back.

What it typically does not cover

Beyond the excess, basic CDW usually excludes theft (that is what TP is for), damage to glass, tyres and the underside, lost keys, misfuelling, and damage caused off-road or while over the limit.

How we do it at Neptuno

We do not work with basic CDW: every rate includes SCDW Premium with zero excess, which also covers theft and the items CDW leaves out. It is the same price you see when you book.

Hire without the small print.

Zero-excess insurance, no deposit, unlimited kilometres and free cancellation up to 72h before.
