SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver)

Extended cover that removes the excess and usually includes glass, tyres and the underside.

SCDW (Super Collision Damage Waiver) is the extended version of CDW. Where basic CDW caps your liability but keeps an excess, SCDW removes it: damage to the vehicle is covered in full.

The practical difference is large. With CDW and a €900 excess, a knock in a car park can cost you up to €900. With full SCDW, nothing.

Careful: not all SCDW covers the same

It is a commercial name, not a regulated category, so each company decides what goes in. Plenty of SCDW products still exclude glass, tyres, underside and roof, or cover collision but not theft. Before you take the cover at face value, check those four items and whether theft is included.
