A daily supplement many companies apply to drivers under 25.
The young driver surcharge is a supplement applied to drivers below a certain age, usually 25. It typically runs between €5 and €25 per day and does not appear in the headline price on comparison sites: it is added when you confirm, or at the desk.
On longer rentals the impact is significant: €15 a day over two weeks is €210 that was not in the price you compared.
It reflects statistically higher claim rates in those age brackets. Some companies also apply a senior driver surcharge from 70 or 75, though it is less common.
