The ACRISS code is the industry standard for describing a vehicle in four letters. It appears constantly on comparison sites and bookings, and reading it saves surprises.
1st — Category: M mini, E economy, C compact, I intermediate, S standard, F full size, P premium, L luxury.
2nd — Body: B 2/3 doors, C 2/4 doors, D 4/5 doors, W estate, V people carrier, F SUV.
3rd — Transmission: M manual, A automatic.
4th — Fuel and air conditioning: R petrol with A/C, N petrol without A/C, D diesel with A/C.
So a CDMR is a compact, 4/5 doors, manual, petrol, with air conditioning. An IFAR would be an intermediate SUV, automatic, with A/C.
Because you book a category, not a specific model. The "or similar" next to the car name means any vehicle sharing the same ACRISS code, which can be quite different from the one in the photo.
