Paying up front is usually cheaper but comes with stricter cancellation terms.
Almost every company offers two ways to pay, and the difference goes well beyond when the money leaves your account.
You pay when booking. It is usually 10% to 20% cheaper, but cancellation terms tighten: many prepaid rates are non-refundable or refund only part. A good option when your dates are genuinely fixed.
You book now and pay at pick-up. More expensive, but you keep flexibility and normally free cancellation. Worth it when the trip depends on flights that could still change.
Before taking the prepaid rate because it is cheaper, work out what you lose if you have to cancel. Saving €20 against a non-refundable €200 rental is a bad trade if there is a real chance the trip falls through.
We work with free cancellation up to 72 hours before pick-up, with no penalty. And since we hold no deposit on cars, you do not need a large amount blocked on your card for the duration of the trip either.
Zero-excess insurance, no deposit, unlimited kilometres and free cancellation up to 72h before.
